capturing their expressions will be one of the main focuses in creating this video piece, i want to capture them both through photographs and video as well as the audio, all pieced together and sperate at the same time throughout my project.

i want to have my project set up similar to an interview and I really liked the way that this movie, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, or rather the trailer, i liked the cutting and chopping up of the interviews intermixed with the title cards
These are some more of the ideas I had around the ‘trigger’ word idea on my mind map
Independent Project: Mind Map of ideas
A few images of what Im going to be making my gif out of
After much research and concepts on ideas, from the artist I looked at I decided that I wanted to do a little more than just a simple GIF. I wanted to create a memory of something that may have been done as a child; watching rain race, from either down a window pane or on a rain day in the car and watching the droplets of rain race back over the windows of the car as its traveling down a road. To create a nostalgic feeling the images would be made into a pixel motion GIF, and I would also incorporate music into the piece and have the rain racing down the pain of glass to the beat and tempo of the music. Having the GIF on repeat and changing the speed and the effects place upon each repeat of the image will, in my mind create a feeling of an old memory that you can never actually get perfect in your head but instead is what you have created to be true of that event.
Final Idea for Cinematic Space
Idea #1 Use a brightly coloured bag and have it floating around on the glittery staircase as a series of pictures turning them into a gif, have the camera rotate around the floating bag. Idea #2 Colour dye and glitter, need to find a wooded area, use pixel motion effect, create the illusion of floating Idea #3 Photography lab; use black backdrop have intense flash to get major contrast between the backdrop and the face of the people, and then have a fan set on low, would only move their hair use a tri-pod for the camera, give it an effect of a ‘moving photograph’.
New concepts and ideas for project…
some inspiration!
The first four are by an artist called Jamie Martínez
The last are a collaboration between two artists, Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg

The Dance performance at The Henry left me somewhat disappointed and wanting something far greater to happen than actually did, leaving me with an unimpressed feeling. i felt that the utilization of the space was poor. Although they had good intentions with the idea i felt that the interaction between the dancers and the audience, being in the same space as the dancers, was thoroughly distracting and i felt as though i missed more than half the performance. The ‘main’ performance left me somewhat unsatisfied, although there were some interesting parts to the performance that fully grabbed my attention the performance as a whole i felt didn’t go anywhere.
The Henry
I had a hard time defining exactly what cinematic space really was, so i went where any modern day teenager would go, to the internet. I found an interesting article on the topic and then discovered a great quote which i feel summed cinematic space up perfectly. “cinema, as we know it, is based upon lying to the viewer. perfect example is the construction of cinematic space.”- Lev Manovich I feel like cinematic space means something different to everyone, and to me more specifically, it means creating a space in which the viewer can become fully immersed and forget the world at present. Its about capturing a moment in time and immortilising those images through the use of a lens or some form of frame to construct a different reality, one removed from our own, that has intrigue. My Idea for my Cinematic Space Project: I took an idea from my finial project I did for digital studio X and wanting to expand on it. Working with digital isn’t what I would consider my strongest suit in art but it is something I want to work and better myself in. Wanting to concentrate on people like I did in my digital class I want to include people. I would have it set up like a series of photographs however, there would be subtle movement and a slight rotation of the camera, as if to create a ‘moving photograph’. To create such images I’ll be using pixel motion in aftereffects and turning a series of photos into a moving image or GIF.

Love the idea of taking something as simple as a photograph and making it something more.
